They're in.
I would think reading these and then reading some the stargate novels would be an interesting experience in how the concept and the level of writing changed in 20 years time. |

| (from the previous Requests thread) illegible_scribble - 2020-09-29 6:26 PM finminer - 2020-09-29 3:51 PM John Scalzi has another Dispatcher novella out, called "Murder by Other Means." Could you please add it? Thank you! Right now this has only been released as an audiobook, and I can't find a cover release for the book, which is coming from Subterranean Press in 2021. If you ask again once the print book (or at least the cover) is out, we can get this added for you. Sub Press has now released the cover for the printed book, so it's now in for you. |

| Hello! I'd love to see Madeleine L'Engle's second generation Kairos books. The final volume, an Acceptable Time, is already listed as the final volume of the Time Quintet. The others in the series are The Arm of the Starfish, Dragons in the Waters, and A House Like a Lotus. A House Like a Lotus is the only one without speculative fiction themes, but it is still part of the series.
Also please add: The Labyrinth of Spirits by Carlos Ruiz Zaf?n (Cemetery of Forgotten Books)
The Baron of Magister Valley by Steven Brust (Khaavren Romances)

| Just a reminder to everyone that there are a number of Roll-Your-Own Challenges expiring on December 31, so you will want to update your records of works read before the calendar rolls over and the Challenges are frozen. If you are unable to complete a Challenge at the level you've currently chosen, you can choose a lower level (fewer number of works) that is achievable by going to the Challenge's page and clicking "Change my reading level". If you are unable to complete a Challenge for any reason, It's Okay! This year has been a complete dumpster fire! No one is going to check up on you or ask why you haven't completed a Challenge. If you want to, you can remove a Challenge from your list by going to the Challenge's page and clicking "Quit this reading challenge". Best wishes to all of you WWEnd members for a safe and happy holiday season -- wishing you much joy and laughter with the ones you love, whether it's in person or over Zoom. Stay safe and take good care of yourselves. ❤

Also, a translated work, Fauna by Christiane Vadnais, a French Canadian writer from Quebec. Original published in French in 2018, it has been published in English in 2020. It fits so many different challenges I would love to have it in.

| To the Stars (Return to Tomorrow), L. Ron Hubbard. Length puts it at the cusp of novella/novel, but ISFDB calls it a novel. |

Mordew (Cities of the Weft book 1) by Alex Pheby
Fauna by Christiane Vadnais, a French Canadian writer from Quebec. Original published in French in 2018, it has been published in English in 2020.
Strange Beasts of China by Yan Ge (pen name of Dai Yuexing). It was first published in Chinese in 2016, and has been published in English in 2020, and will be published by Melville House in 2021.
I would be very happy if any of these could be added. |

McHugh Hi Hneite, This short story has been published in two anthologies, but it is neither available as a print single nor published online to read for free, nor has it been published in a "Best Of" anthology, so it falls outside the guidelines for works to be entered into the database.

* Time Shards, first of a series, and neither author is here (Dana Fredsti, David Fitzgerald) https://titanbooks.com/9104-time-shards/
* Rise of the Wolf, first of a series (Wereworld), and the author (Curtis Jobling) https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/series/DWV/wereworld

Location: Las Vegas, NV | with these last requests, i will fill all of my available RYOC slots! can you please add the following? thank you so much!
the two adult novels of phase one of the Star Wars: The High Republic campaign are in the database but phase one also consists of two YA novels (Into the Dark by Claudia Gray & Out of the Shadows by Justina Ireland) and two junior novels (A Test of Courage by Justina Ireland & Race to Crash Point Tower by Daniel Jos? Older).
the novella Procession of the Black Sloth by Laird Barron, from his 2007 collection The Imago Sequence and Other Stories, was nominated for Best Novella at the 2008 Shirley Jackson Awards.
nominated for a 2004 Retro Hugo Award for Best Short Story, Seventh Victim by Robert Sheckley was published in Galaxy in 1953 and then added to his 1954 collection Untouched by Human Hands. it is the "zero" entry of Sheckley's Victim series and the basis for the 1965 film The Tenth Victim starring Ursula Andress. Sheckley wrote the 1966 novelization of the film and the subsequent sequels in the 1980's, all of which are in the database. |

Location: Dallas, Texas | I looked into this series and it is categorized as Romantic Suspense and even won a few awards from the Romance Writers of America. I see that it takes place in a future New York but I don't think that's enough to make it sci-fi. Further, the pseudonym J.D. Robb was created to be Roberts' outlet for romantic suspense books.
I'm going to pass on entering these.

Location: Dallas, Texas | When I went to look up these books I found that they are 3 parts of the book Cyteen that were split up into three books against the author's wishes -- from ISFDB: This is the first section of the novel Cyteen, which was split into three sections for this paperback reprint about which Cherryh has written, "There was a paperbound publication that split the novel into three parts, but this has ended: the current and, by my wishes, all future publications, will have Cyteen as one unified book." As a one-off variation I don't see much use adding them to the DB so I'm going to skip these.

We don't have a specific cut off date for new publications. The book must have a publication date announced, a cover, synopsis.
I will be adding quite a few 2022 books to the database over the next couple of weeks, generally covering publication through to around June at the moment.
It never hurts to ask for what you want. We'll look at it, and if for whatever reason we think it is too early for that particular book, we'll let you know and keep it on our list to go back to later. |

| I just finished Utopia Avenue by David Mitchell. Late in the story there is an explanation of why one of the main characters is having what looks like mental health difficulties (if I say more it?s a major spoiler). the book?s characters are linked to Cloud Atlas, the De Zoet book, and Bone Clocks and there?s definitely a fantasy element that the 4 books share. I?d vote for including in WWE but I wonder if you all would agree? |

I've looked at this one a number of times, unsure of whether it fits or not. Since you've read it, and say it has definite fantasy elements, and is linked to books already in, that's a good recommendation. It's also on Locus' long list of Best Fantasy novels, so I figure we can't argue with Locus! |

Sorry about that, sometimes we miss things. If we do just ask again. We will always tell you if there is a reason we decide not to add something.
This one looks interesting so I am glad you brought it to my attention. |

Location: Dallas, Texas | Here is the current list. Requests are coming in faster than we are able to get the books added to the database. Ubers and Admin are all busy IRL at the moment it seems and so many of these require new author and publisher entries too -- the extra records makes them more time consuming. And, as always, we try to get series books and other books by the same author added at the same time as it's more efficient. Thanks all for your patience! - Chivalry by Neil Gaiman
- Secrets of the Terra Cotta Soldier by Vinson Compestine and Ying Chang Compestine

| Daughters of the Nri and the sequel, Descendents of the First by Reni K. Amayo - Heroe's journey in a kingdom where twins are slaughtered but are hidden and raised separately and accidentally come together to kill an emperor/king who has stolen power from the Gods, using a crystal. Crappy synopsis, but just wanted to give you enough to know that it's super legit, hero's journey in a foreign kingdom circa 944 AD, with magic on top. Thanks for considering! |

Short answer: anything SF, F, H that is traditionally published. Long answer is in the Frequently Asked Questions page. Welcome to WWEnd and thanks for the requests. Most of our Uber Users are busy with real life at the moment so the list is going slower/getting longer than usual, but we'll get them all in eventually.

| I added the Vandermeer omnibus. On Warren Ellis' Trees graphic novels, I don't think that this meets with our criteria to be added, given that they are simply graphic novels that don't otherwise meet the guidelines.
On Di Filippo's Little Worker, this is a short story that hasn't been individually published (except as an audio download) and that hasn't been nominated for any of the awards that we cover. Not sure if this meets our guidelines. BTW, it is included in the excellent collection Ribofunk.

The Mystical Murders of Yin Mara by Marshall Ryan Maresca
We're going to pass on this one since it's either self-published or a new vanity press.
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight translated by Simon Armitage
We're going to take a pass on this as well. See FAQ.
For books like this that have multiple translations, we put in one copy, and that it.
Some books like this have dozens of translations. You can see the headache coming with that.
Not going there.

As far as I can tell, A: it's out of Print. B: it's from a publisher that says, roughly, give us X amount of money and your text and we'll print your book.
Hence, vanity press or self-pub, either way, and we'll pass on this one.

Thanks for letting me know, I know it is a massive (and never ending!) task getting new books in here. I appreciate the efforts of you and the other Uber users. |

"The Stuff of Dreams" by James Swallow (2013)
"Q are Cordially Uninvited..." by Rudy Josephs (2014)
Note that these are also only in E-format. Thanks! |

If this one was a test of how good we are at finding obscure titles, then please don't.
I must admit that after six different websites, I abandoned the quest.
The closest Ralph Smith I could find was a Rev. in Plymouth, 1629-1636.
And the only copies of the book out there were leather bound reprints that Did Not
give a summery.
I'm going to say this is not in our wheelhouse, or, it's just to obscure, even for the internet.
If someone else in the Uber crowd wants to give it a crack, it's yours. |

Sorry, no. Please take a look at the FAQ concerning book requests. Works only in an E format are rejects most of the time. It has to be a name author, or is in some way deeply connected to our core mission of the awards or lists before we'll put it in. Since the Uber users do this at their discretion, some have even tougher standards. |

Already in the database. This edition just split the book in two and we have the full book in.

What? Her quartet is already in and there is basically no mention of a book with that title. RPG stuff yes; book, no.

RPG stuff yes; book, no. Thanks for all the additions! For the series they printed a split version of Night Land so we need to have those added as separate volumes even though its in as a single book already. We've done this a few times already for other lists or awards or Masterworks inclusions etc. I got the title wrong on the Evangeline Walton. It should be Prince of Annwn and it is in the DB already so I've taken it off the list. Sorry for the confusion.
