In this, the second book of the trilogy, Darrow's adventure continues, in the Gold Society. It is a non-stop action story of political treachery, loyalty, betrayal, murder, and war. I imagined it as a comic book, or as they call them nowadays, a graphic novel. It ends with Darrow's betrayal and defeat, and the moment of his apparent death. But of course, if Darrow doesn't continue, there wouldn't be a third book.
It really is over the top. It's not as good as the first book. I may get around to reading the third, but I'm in no hurry.
