So I'm working my way through the NPR top 100 sci fi and fantasy books. I chewed through most of the sci fi books over a couple years and am now trying to balance the rest out. Anyways, I recently finished T.H. Whites 'The Once and Future King'...and I found it dreadful. Full of christian fable and antiquated ideals. I liked maybe the first 'book' and the last 'book', but the rest was just a icy slough uphill. After that I took a break and reset my brain with four back to back PKD books...

Now, I'm trying to finish the top fifty and what do I pick after that four PKD spree? This book, Mists of Avalon. Imagine my horror when it is immediately obvious this is another freaking King Arthur tale!?!?!?! Well, it's actually good and I'm enjoying it.

It is told from 'Morgain Le Fey' perspective and I find it so much more enjoyable than OAFK. It is over a thousand pages though, so I'm only reading a single 'book' of it at a time. Book one is a-ok. It covers right up to and a few weeks after the crowning of Arthur. The pacing is good and I like learning about the magical side of the isle. At this point it is fairly interesting to have just read OAFK and see an entirely new perspective on what I just read. Very likeable.
