Similar to Rebecca Roanhorse's Trail of Lightning, with an extremely kickass heroine whose job is cleanup work in a nasty post-apocalyptical world. But Bruchac's heroine, Lozen, has her family around to ground her (even if they are used by her overlords to keep her in line). She does not have supernatural powers; she worked hard to develop her fighting and weapons skills, though are some supernatural elements to her story and she does get some supernatural assistance.
