Sadly - SO sadly - I have to say this is not a patch on the original and legenday Canticle. While it holds out promose, early on, of the same kind of compassionate and intricate writing that characterised the first book, this is just a disjointed and rather chaotic muddle of a book, that does not really get anywhere.

You should still read it for completion's sake - but not because you expect anything as good as Canticle.
