Timequake is a science fiction novel. Well, not really. There is some science; it's pretty fictional. It is a work of fiction, but also, not so much. It is a novel, but not really. Vonnegut says this is fragments of a failed novel, to which he refers as Timequake One. And I guess bits and pieces of Timequake One are in there. But also there are pieces of Vonnegut himself, and bits of his absurd wisdom.

Kurt Vonnegut said that this was his last novel (I'm not sure if it was or not) which he wrote after an extended bout of writer's block. I have terminal writer's block, having never successfully written fiction, none at all. If I were able to write fiction, I would like to be able to write like John Steinbeck. That, of course, isn't even remotely plausible, so, then, I wish I could write like Kurt Vonnegut. That also isn't remotely plausible, but it's a good wish.
