Synopsis

With the deceptive ease and streetwise enlightenment of a weird storytelling master, Michael Shea fearlessly sounds the unplumbed depths of the Cthulhu Mythos to witness visions from which traditional cosmic horror has always averted its dark-adapted gaze.

This novelette originally appeared as a chapbook. It can also be found in the anthologies The Year's Best Fantasy: First Annual Collection (1988), edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling, The Year's Best Horror Stories: XVI (1988), edited by Karl Edward Wagner, Cthulhu 2000: A Lovecraftian Anthology (1995), edited by Jim Turner, and The Book of Cthulhu (2011), edited by Ross E. Lockhart. The story is included in the collection The Autopsy and Other Tales (2008).
